Parodontist Lyon:
Discover the history of Studio Paro

Created by the team of Dr Hervé Touati, a dentist specializing in smile aesthetics and a periodontist in Lyon, Studio Paro draws on over 25 years of expertise serving patients in dental distress.

Our periodontal practice was born out of an observation (the increase in requests in the Lyon region, the difficulty of treatment) and the desire to offer a partnership to our colleagues in order to optimize the care they provide.

Above all, our team of periodontologists is driven by the conviction that a collaborative approach with patients is the key to a successful treatment program and a lasting smile.

Find out more about Studio Paro’s founding story and the philosophy that guides us every day.

From 1996 to 2021:
Careers of committed periodontologists

1996
Training in medical periodontics

In 1996, Dr Hervé Touati, Doctor of Dental Surgery, trained in medical periodontics in Lille alongside Dr Jacques Charon, France's leading specialist in this field.

At his side, he learns the secrets of this little-known pathology and of periodontal treatment, essential for halting the progression of the disease and strengthening the anchorage of teeth to the jaw.

1999
Creation of Le Studio dentaire

When he founded Studio Dentaire in 1999 in Lyon 3rd, in the PDG building, the first office block to be built in the Part-Dieu district, he and Mina Ksibi, his loyal dental assistant, applied the method he had learned in Lille. This minimally-invasive medical periodontics technique disinfects the periodontium and provides optimal conditions for spontaneous healing. Unlike conventional surgical techniques, which are very disabling for the patient, medical periodontics enables a genuine periodontal attachment to be recreated.

Indeed, because there is little communication on the subject, periodontitis is often experienced by patients as a shameful disease, which they find difficult to discuss with their dentist, making treatment often difficult.

For this reason, Hervé Touati and Mina Ksibi have acquired a certain expertise over the years in securing the full cooperation of the patient, who thus becomes a central player in the success of the care protocol. Rather than perpetuating a hierarchical, passive patient-physician relationship, a genuine collaboration is established in the service of the patient's smile and well-being.
The patient has a better understanding of his or her illness, and will play a central role in the success of the treatment.
Far from making the patient feel guilty (loss of tooth attachment is not a hygiene issue), this approach will enable the patient to be fully integrated into the care team.

2019
20 years of Le Studio dentaire

In 2019, as Studio Dentaire celebrates its 20th anniversary, young Dr. Romane Touati and Dr. Gokhan Yilmaz, fresh dental surgery graduates, join the practice and receive the transmission of know-how and expertise from Hervé Touati and his team.

2020
Creation of a dedicated periodontics unit

Very active in Lyon's dentistry and scientific research communities, they provided the impetus for the creation of an entity specifically dedicated to periodontics, as requests for consultations exploded in 2020.

2021
Creation of Le Studio Paro

The idea for Studio Paro was born. The project will take shape in 2021, at 4 boulevard Eugène Deruelle in Lyon 3rd district.

Why offer our colleagues the chance to work with us?

Just as dentist-patient collaboration has always seemed a matter of course to us, collaboration with our colleagues also seemed a matter of course when the idea of our dental practice specializing in periodontology was born.

Indeed, throughout 2020 (and not just at the time of the confinements), we received an increasing number of calls from people all over the Rhône-Alpes region, who felt helpless and didn’t always know where to go or who to turn to. Some were already being treated by a local practitioner, others were not. Some had already undergone periodontal treatment in the past, others not.

In all cases, the conclusion was clear: a large number of people were asking for help, and we didn’t necessarily have the capacity to welcome them all.

Rather than compete with our colleagues in Lyon, we thought we’d offer them a partnership to optimize the care they provide in their own practices, without taking up any extra time in their diaries or requiring them to develop new skills.

Our aim is to work in collaboration with orthodontists who receive and treat adults following tooth displacement, with implantologists to ensure the maintenance of their multi-implant patients, and of course with our GP colleagues so that they can carry out their prosthetic treatments in the best possible conditions.

As professionals in Lyon, we have everything to gain, because relieving our patients is our mission, and they will be the first to reap the benefits of this doubly collaborative approach. Let’s join forces, so that the tooth fairy doesn’t pass by twice!
