Periodontitis and treatment: how much does it cost?

Periodontitis is an infectious dental disease that progressively destroys the tissues that support the teeth (the periodontium). Affected patients develop particularly aggressive bacteria that cause tartar to build up under the gums. Gradually, the attachment system of the tooth resorbs, revealing the roots of the teeth, which may begin to move in the jaw. In the long term, untreated periodontitis can lead to tooth loss. If the infection passes into the general bloodstream, general health may be affected: risk of premature delivery, cardiovascular problems…

It is therefore essential to treat periodontitis as soon as possible to halt its progression and strengthen the teeth’s hold in the jaw. But how much does periodontal treatment cost? The answer will depend on the severity of the loss of attachment and the number of lithotripsy sessions required, depending on the depth of the periodontal pockets and their distribution in the jaw, bearing in mind that these sessions are not reimbursed by Social Security.

Periodontal treatment rates at Studio Paro in Lyon 3rd district

The Studio Paro periodontal treatment fee includes the cost of a complete periodontal check-up and scheduled lithotripsy sessions to remove subgingival calculus.

The periodontal check-up, which accurately assesses the depth of periodontal pockets and bone damage through a thorough examination, microscopic bacterial analysis and a series of 18 x-rays, lasts an average of 1.5 hours and costs €285. Social Security reimburses €111.

Each lithotripsy session included in the treatment program is billed at €300. These sessions are not reimbursed by the Assurance Maladie, but the mutual insurance company may cover part of the cost, depending on the package. ALD diabetics can benefit from a reimbursement of €480 every 4 years. Depending on the diagnosis, 2 to 15 sessions may be scheduled.

A customized estimate with the exact final price will be given to you in order to validate the treatment program at the end of the periodontal check-up. If you wish to pay in more than three instalments, our care coordinator can propose a personalized payment schedule.

Once the treatment sessions have been completed, you will continue to visit our office regularly for follow-up periodontal examinations. The frequency, ranging from 4 months to every year, will depend on the amount of tartar reforming. The cost of these sessions is €255, with Social Security reimbursing €43.38.
