Moving tooth:
Studio Paro in Lyon 3rd district, France
Do you have a loose tooth and are afraid of losing it?
A visit to the dentist is essential, but don’t worry: with the right periodontal treatment, there’s a good chance you’ll be able to keep it!
Periodontitis attacks the tooth’s anchoring system, causing mobility in advanced stages. In-office periodontal care helps to strengthen the teeth’s hold in the jaw.
Studio Paro, a periodontology practice in Lyon 3rd district, explains everything you need to know and presents its treatment protocol and its effects on your teeth.
Why are my teeth moving?
“Am I going to lose my teeth?” is one of the first questions our patients ask us when they come to us for a problem with shifting teeth.
Although this phenomenon may seem impressive in adults, and is indicative of an advanced stage of periodontal disease (as is tooth loosening), in the majority of cases, loose teeth can be saved.
It’s actually the infection of the gum and tooth-supporting tissues caused by periodontitis that is responsible for this mobility, as the ligament loosens.
However, once the periodontal pockets have healed, the bond between the tooth and the ligament tightens again. This strengthens the bond between the teeth and the jawbone, and as the treatment progresses, the teeth stop moving.
However, it’s essential to consult a dental hygienist as soon as you notice this problem – and if possible before, if you notice, for example, that there’s more gap between your teeth or that their position in the jaw is no longer the same.
Periodontal treatment at Studio Paro and its benefits
The periodontal care we provide at our periodontics practice in Lyon not only stops the infection caused by periodontitis, but also saves teeth that move.
We favour an approach that places the patient at the heart of the treatment, making him or her a true member of the care team, in the sense that he or she takes an active part in the success of the treatment. Rather than establishing a passive relationship between patient and caregiver, we prefer to create a genuine bond of trust and cooperation.
Not only will our team answer all your questions about periodontitis and the health of your teeth in a straightforward, caring and educational way, but we’ll also show you how to carry out local treatments at home that will help prepare your gums by deflating them to make your dentist’s work easier. For your part, in-office sessions gradually make brushing easier (often complicated by the presence of tartar) and relieve the strain on your teeth and gums.
In-office sessions consist of lithotripsy, a painless method for removing tartar that has accumulated above your gums, but especially under your gums.
We use an instrument that vibrates at a sonic frequency while spraying water. The water droplets explode on the surface of the calculus and the tooth. The energy released by this implosion loosens the tartar while respecting the dental tissue. Tartar is removed painlessly.
Once all the pockets have been thoroughly treated, you will be offered a follow-up treatment to prevent recurrence.
