Objective, procedure and duration of the periodontal check-up
Studio Paro specializes in the prevention and treatment of periodontal disease, in particular periodontitis.
Our treatment systematically begins with a thorough clinical examination. How long does this periodontal check-up last, and what is its purpose? Find out from your dental surgeons.
What is a periodontal check-up?
The purpose of a periodontal assessment is to evaluate the patient’s general condition and oral health. This initial examination is essential for establishing a complete diagnosis and setting up an appropriate periodontal treatment plan. The health issues addressed range from the oral sphere – dental disease, gingivitis or periodontitis, for example – to medical history or co-morbidities – diabetes, heart problems…
At Studio Paro, the initial periodontal check-up lasts around an hour and a half. It includes :
- a general health interview ;
- clinical examination;
- Gum and tooth X-rays;
- 18 x-rays of the oral cavity ;
- a plaque sample for analysis;
- personalized advice on at-home oral care (brushing and complementary gestures).
Following this initial appointment, your dentist will draw up a personalized treatment protocol. He or she will also measure periodontal pockets and assess any bone loss.
How do you pay for your periodontal check-up?
The price of a periodontal check-up at Studio Paro is 285 euros. Social Security provides partial reimbursement of 111 euros, corresponding to the cost of x-rays. In addition, diabetic patients on ALD are entitled to a fixed fee of 480 euros per four-year period for periodontal treatment.
Periodontal treatment: techniques, duration, cost
Once your periodontal health check has been completed, your practitioner will suggest a suitable course of treatment. The treatment is lithotripsy. This technique consists of destroying tartar calculi and cleaning up periodontal pockets using a sonic instrument, whose vibrations destroy subgingival tartar. Painless and non-invasive, this procedure can halt the progression of periodontal disease and prevent associated side-effects such as pain, tooth mobility or loss.
Depending on the patient, periodontitis treatment requires two to fifteen sessions. Once these have been completed, your practitioner will suggest periodontal maintenance appointments to assess the effectiveness of the treatment and anticipate any risk of recurrence.
Each lithotripsy session costs 300 euros, with quarterly follow-up consultations costing 255 euros. Social security covers the latter to the tune of around 43 euros. As for the treatment itself, it is partially or even fully reimbursed by certain mutual insurance companies. Don’t hesitate to contact our care coordinator, who can also draw up a payment schedule.
